Don't Be Fooled: The theory & driving test booking scams

Progress News

For this very reason, we want to warn all of our current and future driving school students of the potential to be ripped off online when booking your theory and practical driving tests.
Firstly; when searching on Google for something like "Book your driving test online" or "Book your theory test online", you'll sometimes be shown an advert at the very top of the search results, allowing you to book through a third party website. These websites which do not end in .gov.uk can not only harvest your data and possibly share with third parties; but also charge you for completing the official application form which in theory is what you end up doing on their website anyway.
Acting as a proxy like this is fine when they are adding value, however we feel they aren't adding any value and charging you an additional fee for the process of applying.
What we recommend is visiting the below links to book your test through the official UK Government website:
Book Theory Driving Test Online
Book Practical Driving Test Online
Finally, these third party services also provide telephone support - either directly through themselves, or forward the call on to the official DVSA department, and charge you up to £6 a minute for doing so! This once again is unacceptable, therefore following the links above and noting down the official DVSA helpline below will save you spending unesessarily on booking your theory and practical driving tests.
